2025 Spring/Summer Trend Alert: How Distressed Jeans Are Taking Over the Runway and Street Style

Destroy jeans are making a strong comeback! With Quiet Luxury sweeping the catwalks, minimalist dresses and office style pants, designers seem to be ready for a wave of minimalism from the 2000s. One of the most iconic items is the ‘destructed jean’ – a millennial favorite that is now back on the fashion scene.

Classic 2000s symbols, reinterpreted and upgraded.
Donatella Versace presented a pair of denim trousers with a delicate ripped finish in her latest fashion show, while Dolce & Gabbana followed suit with denim jeans with antiqued details. Younger brands such as Private Policy emphasized big rips, while Parisian label Egonlab. opted for a low-rise fit with ripped details for an edgy street vibe.

In the April 2025 issue of Vogue France, cover girl Vittoria Ceretti pays homage to the rebellious fashion of the early millennium by wearing vintage destroyed jeans from Helmut Lang’s Spring/Summer 1998 collection, styled by Alastair McKimm and photographed by Carin Backoff.

The It Girls of the Year
A pair of ripped jeans cut to a bell-bottom, low-rise waist and a large logo belt (Diesel preferred) was almost a standard for the It Girls of the 2000’s. Jessica Simpson, Cameron Diaz, Kate Moss, Nicky Hilton and Victoria Beckham all wore this piece on the streets, red carpets and at parties.
